I've never done anything like this before, how do I know I'm going to be safe at home doing this?

First up, congrats on the decision to even consider doing these home workouts! 
For you, I would recommend beginning with the Strong START program. Over these 8 weeks, you will familiarise yourself with all the various exercises. This program walks you through step-by-step instructions with the correct technique. Use light weights to begin with until you feel comfortable. You can also upload a video into the Facebook Group to have your technique assessed by me if you felt comfortable to! 
But provided you listen to your body, and don't push it in ways that physically hurt you, you should be fine. 

What if I’ve not lifted weights for a long time?

Then this is a safe place to learn how to use weights safely from home, without worrying about looking like a newbie in a gym! I talk constantly through the workouts, cueing you on how to lift, where you should be feeling it in your body, when to breathe and more. So you can jump straight into the live classes and I will have you covered. You also have the option of working through the ‘Strong Start’ program in your bonuses, which will guide you over 8 weeks, to really hone in on all the various exercises and really delves into your technique. Who is Fi-Fit after 40 really for?

If you're here and reading this question - then I'm going to guess that you're a woman over 40 (or close to 40!). Therefore it's for you!

Designed with you in mind. Not only to give you the best benefits your body physically needs, but also to make exercise FUN and as enjoyable as it can possibly be!!

I have ongoing knee or back issues - can I still do the workouts?

Absolutely! Many of our ladies have these particular injuries or pains. You will quickly learn where to substitute in different exercises. And as the classes are delivered live, I very often will give alternatives in real time when I know that some of the people are online who need them. 

What equipment do I need?

You can start with as little as a pair of drink bottles! Then, when you’re ready to invest, I suggest getting one, then two pairs of dumbbells. A lighter set (3-5kgs) and a heavier set (6-8kgs). We also use a ‘booty band’ to target our glutes and mini-resistance bands - both cheap as chips from Kmart. A kettlebell is used as a heavier weight (10kg or 12kg is perfect) and for some of the higher intensity classes. Other than that - we just use what’s in your house! A thick book, your dining room chair or your couch!

I'm worried about muscle pain and making myself worse, not better. What should I do?

An unfortunate part of the process to begin with, is what's known as DOMS - or 'Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness'. This is most often at it's absolute worst, in the first and second weeks of beginning new exercises. As your body becomes more conditioned (or used to!) the exercises, the pain won't be as frequent, nor as intense. 
What is essentially happening, is you are creating tiny microscopic tears in your muscle, that will then heal and repair - making you stronger and your muscles of a better quality. 
This is GOOD NEWS! As we want and NEED to build muscle to lead ourselves into older age in a great physical place to still be doing all the things we love!

How do I cancel my membership if it isn't right for me?

You are under no obligation to stay if you feel that Fi-Fit isn't the right option for you!

I know you preach exercise for your muscle health and strength, but I also want to lose weight - will this help?

This is a big question that I could spend hours answering, but I'll keep this as short as possible!

Losing weight through exercise CAN and DOES happen, but there are so many variables that also equate to weight loss. Exercise is just ONE piece of the puzzle. 
What I CAN say is, that with consistent workouts, especially using weights that challenge you, you will begin to notice your body changing. Your muscles will tighten and you might notice yourself getting leaner, or that your clothes are fitting differently. But the scales may not actually change even though your body is changing. 
Beginning an exercise routine often leads women to begin paying more attention to their food choices, which can naturally see you changing your body shape too - but it's not a given. Please reach out to me personally if you need more 1-1 help.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS of Fi-Fit After 40 MEMBERSHIP:

All references to “Fi-Fit”, “We”, or “Us” or “Our” are references to or include Fiona Modderman trading as Fi-Fit - Fi Modderman as the principal and founder of Fi-Fit After 40, and any contractors or other persons providing fitness workouts or other authorized services for or on behalf of Fi-Fit After 40.
Users of Fi-Fit After 40 are referred to below as “members”, “participants”, or “you” or “I” as the context requires.
The following sets out the terms and conditions for use of the Fi-Fit After 40 Membership Site, Fi Modderman Facebook page, and the use of our online or pre-recorded fitness workouts of Fi-Fit After 40.


These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
By answering “Yes” in the Quiz section, or accessing and participating in our workouts, you agree to be personally bound by these Terms and Conditions, including any changes or modifications made to these Terms and Conditions from time to time, according to the laws of New Zealand, and you warrant that you are at least 18 years of age or have the permission of a parent or caregiver to participate in Fi-Fit After 40.


1. WHAT Fi-FIT AFTER 40 ENTITLES YOU TO:

a. Upon accepting our terms and conditions of participation and paying the relevant membership fee, the participant shall be given membership access to the Fi-Fit After 40 site and Facebook group for the period covered by the membership fee, which shall be for the paid monthly subscription.

b. Fiona Modderman, principal of Fi-Fit After 40, will provide participants with new weekly workouts each week. Additional workout sessions may be provided at any time at the sole discretion of Fi-Fit After 40. Participation in the Community Facebook Group.

VARIATIONS TO SCHEDULED LIVE-STREAMED WORKOUTS:

a. In the event of illness or injury, Fi Modderman reserves the right to cancel a workout where required (every effort will be made to find a suitable staff or contractor replacement).

b. If for any reason the minimum number of fitness sessions cannot be provided in any week, Fi Modderman reserves the right to substitute a live workout session with a pre-recorded earlier fitness session,

c. While all efforts will be made to ensure all live workouts proceed at the pre-scheduled time, technical difficulties or internet connection issues may at times mean that workouts may commence later than the published start time.

d. Fi Modderman reserves the right to amend the scheduled days and times of the live-streamed workout sessions.

2. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION IN Fi-FIT AFTER 40 WORKOUTS:

By participating in Fi-Fit After 40 workouts or in discussions between us and you, or generally among Fi-Fit After 40, you expressly acknowledge and accept that:

a. The fitness workouts provided by Fi-Fit After 40 follow the HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) Format. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have a sufficient degree of fitness and physical capability to participate in this exercise format, and/or to seek professional advice from a medical professional if you are unsure.

c. Participants who are inexperienced in HIIT or who are beginning with a low level of personal fitness are encouraged and recommended to start with Strong START provided by Fi-Fit After 40 and to seek advice from Fiona Modderman if unsure how to carry out any HIIT exercises correctly.

d. Fi-Fit After 40 does not provide any warranties or guarantees as to any specific result from participation in the workout sessions.

e. If experiencing any unusual pain or discomfort during any Fi-Fit After 40 workout sessions participants should cease the workout and seek advice from a medical professional or physiotherapist before continuing with Fi-Fit After 40 workouts.

f. Fi-Fit After 40 shall not be legally responsible for or bear any legal liability for any harm or injury suffered by any participant as a result of their participation in Fi-Fit After 40 workouts, and shall not accept any claim for compensation or reimbursement of medical costs associated with this.

g. To the extent any other legal claim is otherwise permitted by law and is established against us, our total liability in respect of all claims in connection with any services provided by Fi-Fit After 40 shall be limited to the total sum of any membership fees paid by you that relate to the cause of action established.

h. You shall be bound by and observe the conditions and restrictions of use or sharing of Fi-Fit After 40 workouts and associated intellectual property as set out in Clause 3.

i. Fi-Fit After 40 aims to provide resources, tools and guidelines however, information displayed on the website, in the members group or inside programmes is not specifically tailored to suit an individual’s specific needs. Users should not rely exclusively on information provided by Fi Modderman for their health needs and requirements such as injuries or other health problems; these should be discussed with a Doctor or Health Practitioner.

j. Fi-Fit After 40 has been designed to help individuals progress towards achieving their fitness and wellness goals. Please note that Fiona Modderman is not a nutritionist or dietician, but a health coach. The views and opinions expressed on Fi-Fit After 40 website are based on Fiona's own philosophy and professional background. Qualifications held by Fiona Modderman include; Bachelor of Physical Education majoring in Exercise Prescription and Management, Certified Health Coach, Advanced Clinical Weight-loss Practitioner.

3. CONDITIONS OF, AND RESTRICTIONS AGAINST, USE OR SHARING OF FI-FIT AFTER 40 WORKOUTS AND ASSOCIATED INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

a. The name “Fi-Fit After 40”, The “Fi-Fit After 40” Logo, and all uploaded recordings of workout videos produced by Fiona Modderman are the intellectual property of Fiona Modderman trading as Fi Modderman and may not be used in any manner that constitutes a breach of our intellectual property rights, unless expressly permitted by Fiona Modderman.

b. All Fi-Fit After 40 workouts or pre-recorded workouts are for your personal use. Fi-Fit After 40 authorises within the meaning of personal use, sharing and participating in Fi-Fit After 40 workouts with other members of your immediate family or, within reasonable limits, sharing and participating in Fi-Fit After 40 workouts with friends who are present with you at a private residential dwelling. Personal use does not include broadcasting or sharing the workout among large groups or public audiences, or in any online group or forum whether public or private, unless you have the express prior written consent of Fi-Fit After 40.

c. You must not use, share, post or re-post Fi-Fit After 40 material in connection with, or to promote, other services or products in any other forum, whether online or otherwise, without the express written permission of Fi-Fit After 40.

4. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS:

If you decide to cancel your membership, you expressly acknowledge and accept that:

a. You are required to give minimum of 2 days notice of the cancellation of your membership by emailing fi@fimodderman.com, which shall cease at the end of that notice period.

We may cancel your membership with immediate effect, if:

a. You breach any part of clause 4; or

b. You otherwise breach the terms and conditions of membership or commit an act that brings, or could bring the reputation of Fi-Fit After 40 into disrepute.

In the event we cancel your membership in accordance with these terms and conditions, refunds will be at the sole discretion of Fi-Fit After 40.

5. PRIVACY AND MARKETING

a. Fi-Fit After 40 is an online forum, with workouts being live-streamed on Zoom, and members able to post comments and share photo’s within the group. By participating in Fi-Fit After 40, you accept that any comments or posts you make will be visible to all members of Fi-Fit After 40. Because of the way in which facebook posts are published, you also accept that your comments may be visible to other facebook users outside of Fi-Fit After 40 group.

b. You accept that Fi Modderman may re-post Fi-Fit After 40 workouts or forums online in order to promote and encourage others to join the group, and that this shall not constitute a breach of your privacy by Fi-Fit After 40.

c. Fi Modderman will use all reasonable endeavours outside of the circumstances in 5.a and 5.b to respect your individual privacy. Should we wish to use any specific information about you, including posts about your personal experience in Fi-Fit After 40, or photos you publish in Fi-Fit After 40 as part of any wider online promotional or marketing activities, we will seek your permission.

d. Members and third parties are not permitted to advertise or promote their products or services on Fi-Fit After 40 forums without the express written consent of Fi Modderman. I agree that I am undertaking these workouts at my own risk.
